Ansar Community Center
  1. Renovate the building, so as to accommodate a larger number of people

The organisation is seeking volunteers who have experience working with youth and community organising. They are also seeking candidates who possess technical skills.

Qalandia Refugee Camp’s Children Center for Culture and Development
  1. Build an indoor games room
  2. Furnish the theatre
  3. Media Studio project, including an equipment upgrade and a computer lab

Language Skills: Arabic and preferably English

Additional Skills: The centre is looking for volunteers with workshop facilitation skills and preferably previous experience working with children.

The Burj-Aluqluq Community Center Association
  1. The renovation of the kindergarten; the cost of the renovation is approximately $15,000
  2. The cultivation of the south end of the grounds, turning it into a private garden for the elderly; the cost of the work is approximately $96,000
  3. The renovation of the tent, which is regarded as the only amenity for residents of the district which provides them a facility for their celebrations and their relaxation. Cost of the renovation: approximately $37,000
  4. A financial support plan for ongoing employee expenses; the total annual cost of salaries for permanent staff is approximately $100,000

The Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem

Workshops for women and educational trainings.

Arabic, Hebrew, English speakers that can help with website designing, fundraising. Also need transportation for the women and the children, fabric, and basic materials for the workshops.

Qalandia Women’s Centre

Volunteers are needed in the areas of administrative staff development and in helping to market the handmade products of the women.

The organisation would appreciate volunteers that can help support programming and activities for the community.

Al-Walajeh Farming Committee
  1. Agricultural experts (agricultural engineers, alternative farming technicians) and business consultants to help the farmers improve their skills
  2. Materials (fertilizers, human resources, technology, and agricultural equipment) needed for increasing agricultural productivity and land use
  3. Agricultural training and workshops
  4. Agricultural equipment and materials

The organisation has not had volunteers yet, but would like to have volunteers in the future.

Skills Beyond Language: The organisation is seeking volunteers with knowledge and experience in the field of agriculture. Additionally, the organisation is seeking developmental and technical support.

 

Kafr Aqab Local Council

  1. A library for the school
  2. Refurbishing of many local streets
  3. Purchasing and installing streetlights
  4. Renovating various buildings

Additional Skills: The Kafr Aqab Local Council is looking for volunteers with experience and the ability to help support and develop community in the education, health, and/or sport sectors. 

Old City Youth Association
  1. Fund to run a youth camp for two days – cover the expenses of transportation, event location, refreshments, lecturers, total cost estimated to be $4,000 for 50 participants, which includes informal educational and sport activities
  2. Funds to cover electricity and water expenses for the centre
  3. School materials, books, etc.
  4. Need musical instruments for a music program, which is estimated to cost about $2,000

The organisation needs volunteers who can provide tutoring services for youth, preferably teachers, or volunteers with teaching experience. The association is also looking for women volunteers to give workshops on self-awareness and social support.

Al-Walajeh Sport Club

A sports club that is open to men, women, and children from the local area and the use of the sports hall.

The Burj-Aluqluq Community Center Association
  1. A kindergarten, which aims to build the personality of the boys and girls and to instill in them values and morals from childhood. The kindergarten holds up to 35 children aged between 3 and 5 .
  2. Raising the status of women in the local community, through women’s training, empowering and awareness; health and societal development at all levels - social, cultural, sporting, and entertainment. Awareness programs include reproductive health in its broadest sense, the legal program, by way of lectures designed to give women awareness of their religious and civil legal rights.
  3. The ball-games school. The association is working to follow up with children beyond the end of the school day by providing dedicated sport and entertainment courses for them; the organisation supervises more than 150 children (boys and girls aged between 7 and 15), enrolled in sports teams (basketball, football, and tennis), with the support of the ‘Steps’ foundation.
  4. First aid unit. This unit strives to respond to the primary medical care needs of the sick inside the wall, especially in light of the current political situation and the difficulty of getting ambulances.
  5. People with special needs. Integrating people with special needs in general, and with mental disabilities in particular, and to provide them with as natural an atmosphere as possible which increases the number of opportunities for their genuinely close contact in the community in which we live.
  6. ‘The country’s way of life’ project: Aimed at young people of both sexes aged between 14 and 25, it aims to create a leading generation which is aware of the country’s heritage and in partnership acts to transmit that heritage to the next generation.

ACS offers multiple education, social, and artistic programs for community members, and performances and presentations about life inside the Old City.
