Located five kilometers northwest of the occupied city of Jerusalem, Shuafat borders the villages of Anata from the east, al-Issawiyah from the southeast, Hizma from the northeast, Beit Hanina from the north and Lifta from the southwest. It is among the more elevated villages of the Jerusalem Governorate, especially in relation to surrounding villages like Beit Hanina and Lifta. Khirbat al-Ras, which sits in the west of Shuafat near the colony of Ramat Shlomo (Rekhes Shuafat colony), is the highest point in the village at nearly 817 meters above sea level.
